ZION CARAVAN TOUR

We’ve been absolutely blown away by the response to this tour—and to our music over the years. What started as a small dream has grown into over 300 million streams and 1.2 million monthly listeners between all of us artists—but more than that, it’s grown into a real connection with the people showing up at these concerts.

So far, we’ve had the joy of playing 75 Zion Caravan shows (and counting). These nights are full of meaning, beauty, and connection—and that’s what keeps us coming back.

How it all started

One of the most fulfilling musical experiences I’ve ever had happened on stage at the Ryman Auditorium. It was during the first half of Andrew Peterson’s Behold the Lamb of God tour a few years back — a Nashville-style “in-the-round” setup, where artists take turns sharing songs and stories. We had just finished playing Take This Slowly. It was an amazing moment… and I was honestly relieved when it was over.

What followed, though, I’ll never forget.

We sat back in our chairs on stage and got a front-row seat to the kind of jaw-dropping musicianship that only happens when legends are in the room.

I was literally four feet from Stuart Duncan (a hero of mine — master fiddler for Goat Rodeo and so many others), Ron Block (banjo royalty), and Sierra Hull (arguably the best female mandolinist alive). The three of them played together as a trio, trading licks that felt almost otherworldly. I could never dream of pulling off what they were doing — and that made it all the more magical.

But what stuck with me most wasn’t just the talent — it was the camaraderie. It felt… right. It wasn’t anyone’s show in particular. It was everyone’s — the audience and artists alike, sharing something bigger than any one of us.

That’s what sparked the idea for the Zion Caravan Tour.

A couple years ago, I thought: What if we created a tour like that? One where we brought our artist friends and played in the round, just like that night at the Ryman? Maybe I could get back to that feeling — and maybe the audience could feel it too.

And it worked. The first Zion Caravan Tour was more than I hoped for. And this time around, we’re building on it and making it even better.

I can’t wait for this tour. It still feels like a grand experiment — and I’d love for you to come be part of it. - Dave Radford, lead singer of The Gray Havens
